Located high in the Southern Alps, Canterbury’s Mt Hutt Ski Area receives some of the lightest and driest powder in Australasia. It typically enjoys one of the longest ski seasons in the Southern Hemisphere – from early June to late October.
Following recent investments into lift and trail infrastructure, further improvements include a new computerized snowmaking system, a new snowmaking line for the 10,000sqm Terrain Park and a new Pisten Bully Winch groomer to maintain advanced trails on steeper terrain.
Trails and freestyle features are accessed by a six seater express chairlift, an express quad chair, a triple chair and a 140m long Magic Carpet – some of the best facilities in the country.
Close to Christchurch city and with more than 365 skiable hectares, Mt Hutt offers variety and every facility for snow sports enthusiasts. A vast mountain offering a diverse mix of terrain, all levels of skier and rider can have an awesome, winter experience here.
Renowned for its laidback and rural atmosphere, Mt Hutt is family and beginner friendly, featuring an award winning Snowsports School and licensed Skiwiland Crèche. There’s a sun deck, café and brasserie as well as an excellent retail shop. Children aged six and under ski for free.

Ski shuttles offer daily services to and from Methven and Christchurch.
