Located high in the Southern Alps, Canterbury’s Mt Hutt is firmly linked to the pioneering tradition of the region’s high country. A vast mountain with 472 hectares of diverse terrain, Mt Hutt is relaxed, friendly, challenging and exciting.

Mt Hutt’s lift and trail system was extensively redeveloped in 2005 resulting in the best lift and terrain mix in the South Island. Improvements for 2008 include more snowmaking, base building development and a new mini terrain park for beginners and novices.

Mt Hutt offers all levels of skier and rider an awesome winter experience. Trails, off-piste, terrain parks and halfpipe are accessed by a six seater express chairlift, an express quad chair, a triple chair and a 140m long surface conveyor lift – some of the best facilities in the country. Each winter, the arrival of many of the world’s best ski racers for training down under enhances the mountain’s reputation as the ‘Capital of Speed’.

A laidback and genuine Kiwi atmosphere born of the region’s high country character defines Mt Hutt. Huber’s Hut in the base building reflects this affinity and recognises Willy Huber, one of the ski area founders.

Excellent facilities for learners make it a popular choice for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders. Children aged six and under get a free day pass and there is a licensed Skiwiland Crèche and kid’s facilities.
